My name is Roxy and I am looking for a home with someone who has had a sighthound previously.
I have been with Bristol DAWG for over twelve months now, having come from a trainer in Swindon. I have been quite successful and have had one hundred and twenty three races.
I am just six years old, spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and up to date with my flea and worm treatment, so I am good to go.
I am currently living with Debbie, the Rehoming Officer, and she is helping me learn about home life and the big wide world. Debbie says I am a smart girl, but I can be a little stubborn!
As greyhound girls go, I am quite big and I am also black, so straight away these are things which are against me when people are looking for a new four legged friend - sadly the black dogs are the last to be chosen and people like the dainty pretty little girls.
However, I do have lots of good points: I am in fabulous condition; I am spotlessly clean in the house and have never had an accident; I can be left for up to six hours; I sleep throughout the night; I’m not destructive; I walk well on my lead, but do get excited if I see cats or squirrels, which is why Debbie says I need an experienced sighthound owner who is physically quite strong.
I do live for my food, it is the highlight of my day and I certainly let you know when I am hungry, which Debbie says is most of the time!
I am not a typical lazy greyhound, I also love my exercise, so I am looking for someone who is active and enjoys walking.
Due to my racing history, it is unlikely that I will ever be able to come off lead unless in a secure area. Debbie has found me a lovely field to run in and my recall is good. If you feel you could offer me a home, please call Debbie on 0117 9859536 and she will give you more information about me. I am sad that it has taken me so long to find a home of my own, but I live in hope that 2017 will be my year.
