Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue

Rudy

Hi my name is Rudy and I am one year and four months old as I write this in June. I have been in my home since I was four months old, as I was left at a local vets to be put to sleep due to chronic diarrhoea.
As my Mum lived with a vet nurse at the time, I went to their house for fostering - and she fell for me immediately!
I am a Saluki x Greyhound, with some Spaniel and Whippet too (I had a DNA test). I iam vaccinated and neutered and I am a really good boy. I need a new home through no fault of my own. My Mum is not well with a neck injury, and we live in house which is too small for me. She can't walk me daily, which is not fair on me (I ought to have two walks a day!). There are blind cats living with us, and I adore them. Unfortunately I am too boisterous for them and they are stuck upstairs due to me rough-playing out of sheer love of them!!
I eat a raw food diet, and I strictly must continue this. It is no more expensive than a biscuit diet, but ANY biscuit or other food gives me my tummy problem. As you can see, I am a skinny boy and can't afford to lose any more weight! I have steadily put weight on since being neutered a few months ago. The Saluki part of my breed gives me sticking-out pin bones which makes everybody think I'm starved!
I also have one Copraphagia biscuit a day (a pot of these will come with me) which prevents me eating poo - something common with my breed and made worse if my tummy is unsettled.
Please don't be put off by this, as I never have a bad tummy if you stick with the raw food! Raw food is so easy once you've got the hang of defrosting it overnight each day, it is hassle-free and really good for me too.
I'm prone to car sickness, the vet can give you tablets for this, or I am ok if I last ate four hours ago.
I am fully house-trained and can be left on my own. I have started to nibble the corners of the leather sofa, but that's 'cos I'm left left without having been walked and am bored in a small lounge! I love safe chew-toys like antlers and all sorts of other toys.
I need a home that has time to walk me every morning, and watch me race around like a mad thing!
I need a home that will be patient with me and use a clicker and some gluten-free treats - which I will respond to incredibly - to re-teach me manners while walking, as my Mum lets me off in a field nearby now and so I have started pulling on the lead as she doesn't take me along cycle paths like she used to.
I need a home that is happy for me to sit next to them on a sofa for a great big cuddle each day or night!
I need a home that will always be kind to me, as I have not got a bad side to me at all - I use my feet to greet people coming in the house, and this can hurt! So confident children above five years old are fine... and I REALLY adore children.
I will only be let go to a perfect home which makes my life better.
I am an angel by nature, and I guarantee whoever is lucky enough to meet me will fall for me too, so why not get in touch to arrange an appointment.

Love and icks

Rudy
