Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue

April 2019

4 April 2019

Hilary Bloor, who is a volunteer presenter with Bradley Stoke Radio, very kindly invited Hilly to appear on the Charity Hour this morning. It's a very good way to raise awareness and we value the relationship we have enjoyed with BSR over the years. Hilary has also become quite a supporter of Bristol DAWG. Thank you Hilary for asking Hilly, as always she enjoyed the experience enormously.

Doesn’t time fly?! Car boot season is upon us and Diane needs to replenish her dwindling stock! She is looking for quality items to sell so if you’re having a clear out please let her know. She is happy to collect but only has a shed for storage so won’t be able to take large items.
Every penny raised goes to Bristol DAWG.

Q. What is the best kind of foster family?
A. Failed foster family of course!!
Welcome to the club Mike and Shirl. They fostered Princess before she went to her forever home and then took Lass three weeks ago. Now called Cassie, this pretty brindle girl has been such a star and settled in so well that the  adoption paperwork was completed this morning. Thank you for giving her a lovely home and for being great foster parents.

Gerry spent a lovely hour this morning with Julie and John who have just adopted little Beanie (formerly Jasper). This poor boy had obviously not had a good start in life, but things have just got a whole lot better.

Poor boy, when he arrived, skin condition, bad ears, part tail amputation and just to add insult to injury he was neutered!!!

Beanie looks so much better than he did a few months ago and most of this is down to his foster mum, Diane Sweet, who did an amazing job nursing him back to health. Thank you Diane.

Hope you have a lovely life Beanie, if ever a dog needed help you did.

Thank you to Dave, Lynne, Barbara and Immy, plus of course their faithful hounds, for very kindly undertaking a street collection in Devizes, which raised an £205.86 in support of Bristol DAWG.

We are so lucky to have such lovely people supporting the work we do.

21 April 2019

Thank you to everyone who turned up this morning for the social walk at Ashton Court, we raised an amazing £335.

Thanks to our fosterers for very kindly bringing dogs looking for homes, thanks also to everyone who brought refreshments.

Special thanks for Jess and Andy Ward for the use of their motor home for making drinks.

Lovely to see so many of our dogs happy with their new owners.

We estimate that there were approximately fifty to sixty dogs.

Thank you to Jess Ward  and Jayne Hemmingsley for attending The Lions Club Vintage Cars and Motorcycles Rally at The Salthouse in Clevedon.

Thank you to the very kind Manager of The Salthouse for allowing Bristol DAWG to collect.

It was lovely that they were joined by Roy, Gracie and Ruby (plus their humans of course).

Jess and Jayne raised £60 - thank you both so much.

We are so lucky to have such lovely people supporting the work we do.

Gerry had a trip to the seaside this afternoon (Weston-Super-Mare) to complete the paperwork for Mikey, now re-named Wilbur. Wilbur has been in his new home two weeks and has really settled in and as you can see loves the sofa!!

He has a new girlfriend, Freya, also one of Eila Moloney's dogs adopted back in 2016.

Thank you Philip and Carolyn Schwab for giving Wilbur his forever home, he is a very lucky boy.

Thanks also to Penny Owen for fostering this boy, as usual you did an amazing job.
