4 August 2018

Hi there, I just thought I'd give you an an upate on Nicole (now called Robyn), who my mum and I adopted from Bristol DAWG yesterday. This gorgeous girl was recently rescued by Eila Moloney from a pound in Ireland. She's five years old but she's never lived in a home before, only kennels. She doesn't seem to recognise any doggie words, not even 'walk' or 'dinner' and she doesn't understand stairs or her new toys or even her dog bed yet (we had to give her a duvet instead). You might be able to see from the picture that she has a bit of a wonky tail where it must've been broken in the past. She's quite overwhelmed and needs a lot of reassurance at the moment, but she's safe and comfy and seems to like us

Walk route for the 1st September now finalised. It's approx five miles long with a couple of options to turn back sooner if needed. There's lots of shade and access to the river if hot. Everyone is welcome. Get in touch if you are interested in coming along.

5 August 2018

Thank you to Lynne, David Hunt, Barbara and their lovely dogs for very kindly undertaking a Street Collection and Car Boot Sale and raising £102.40 which has been deposited in the DAWGUST Appeal.

Well done everyone.

5 August 2018

Massive, massive, massive "thank you" to Julie Sims and Adrian Sims for their kind hospitality yesterday in organising a Cream Tea Afternoon at their home.

Absolutely amazing afternoon, which raised £1,500 for DAWGUST.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this an enjoyable afternoon.

Thanks also to the ladies who worked so hard looking after everyone.

6 August 2018

Many of you will remember the fundraising drive which took place earlier this year. We have today received a cheque from Support Pet Adoption for £379.00 from the Bradley Stoke Pets At Home Store and £916 from Emerson's Green. Thank you to everyone at Support Pet Adoption and a special thanks to all the lovely staff at both stores for working so hard selling scratch cards.

Greyt news Jim has found his forever sofa in Bishopsworth with Louise, Nick and his new girlfriend Alice. Jim has been living with his new family for two weeks just to make sure the dogs got along, and it couldn't have been a better match. Alice is ten years old, so we had to get the right dog, and it seems to have worked.

We must say a massive "thank you" to Denise Smart for yet another brilliant foster - probably one of your shortest!!

Another lovely boy saved by our good friend Eila Moloney.

This is what Louise and Nick had to say about Jim:

"Thank you so so much for bringing Jimmy into ours and Alice’s lives, he is such a lovely, sweet natured boy who we love very much. It feels like he’s been with us for ages and our family is now complete.

Lou, Nick and Alice x"

DAWGust 2018 word search

For the past couple of years we've gone it alone and carried out personal challenges to raise money for DAWGust 2018.

Well this year we thought everyone should be involved in a challenge. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to complete our DAWGust word search!

Everyone, young and old, loves a word search and ours includes loads of words relevant to the charity, sighthounds and a few words relevant to our own hounds past and present.

So, if you want to keep your kids, grandparents, parents or partner quietly occupied for a couple of hours during the summer holiday season, this word search is for you!

What's in it for me, we hear you ask. Well, every correct entry will be entered into a draw to win a £25 Pets at Home voucher, with all entry fees being donated to the DAWGust 2018 appeal.

If you'd like to enter email [email protected] with your name and we will send you a unique code. Then, make your donation on the DAWGust 2018 Just Giving page

, quoting the code we give you and we will email you a copy of the word search. Once you've found all the words, email a copy to [email protected] and if you've correctly identified them all, you'll be entered into the draw at the end of August.

If you'd like to enter more than once (perhaps you have more than one person to keep quiet) each entry costs just £2.

Please join in the fun. The more entries received the more we can raise to help Eila Moloney save more greys like Gracie and Joe.

Happy searching. 😀

Another superb weekend for our DAWGUST campaign. We have undertaken street collections in Kingswood where £602 was raised and also in Wells Town Centre where David, Lynne and Barbara and of course the hounds, raised a magnificent £309 (this was our first ever collection in Wells).

Caroline McNally’s Just Giving page for the Night Walk put a further £360 into the Fund, with some monies still to come from this event.

With other generous donations received (thank you Diane Sweet, Pat Wood and Jane Boden), the DAWGUST Fund (including Gift Aid) stands at a mind-blowing £8062.50 – AMAZING!

See our website for details of the remaining events over the next couple of weekends. I am astounded by everyone’s generosity, what a greyt bunch of people Team DAWG are!

Don’t forget the online Auction which finishes 31 August – bids on that are now nearing £1000 in total. Thanks Megan and Kim, keep pestering people for bids!

Gerry went to Yate this afternoon to complete the adoption for Ellie - think it is fair to say she has settled!! She looked so happy and content, apparently she has been absolutely perfect and hasn't put a paw wrong. Thank you Lisa Smith and your family for giving Ellie a wonderful forever home.
Ellie is off to the beach tomorrow, so we look forward to seeing pictures.
Thanks to our good friend Eila Moloney for saving this sweet girl, she really is a little gem.

25 August 2018

Due to the awful weather forecast tomorrow we have decided to postpone the fun walk to next Saturday 1st September, starting at the same time and place. Hopefully the people who could come can make it plus others who might be free next weekend.

26 August 2018

I am always amazed at the way people come up with ideas!! Well done to Vikki Carter who undertook Bog snorkeling yesterday and raised £200 for the DAWGUST appeal. Thank you Vikki.

31 August 2018

Don't forget everyone, today is the last day of the Grand Dawgust Online Auction. Please place your final bids before seven o'clock this evening and good luck to everyone!

31 August 2018

As Dawgust draws once more to a close, the trustees would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to everybody who has contributed in any way, shape or form. There have been many special events - and there are still a couple more to come over the weekend - but there have also been a myriad of donations, too many to acknowledge individually on here, but nonetheless greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much indeed.

31 August 2018

Massive, massive thank you to Megan and Kim Simpkins-Jenkins for all their efforts with the Charity Auction for DAWGUST, which finished this evening, raising an amazing £1,308.50!! Just think of the dogs Eila Moloney will be able to save with this money.
