Bristol DAWG

Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue

Boarding

We offer boarding to dogs that have been previous residents of Bristol DAWG.   Spaces are limited, as we only want to keep this on a small scale, but we are constantly asked for recommendations when people are looking to go on holiday or that odd weekend away.

To leave your dog with us we would need to see proof that your dog is fully vaccinated and has had the kennel cough vaccine, this vaccination must be given three weeks before coming to stay with us.
We are not able to accept any dogs without up to date vaccinations, including kennel cough, and our Kennel Supervisor has been told that she must turn dogs away, as we cannot put the rescue dogs and other boarding dogs at risk.  This is non negotiable.

Terms and Conditions of Boarding
Dogs are boarded at Knoll View at the owner's risk.

Food
We are happy to feed your dog(s), we use a good quality dry food, normally Harringtons, tinned Butchers, Forthglade and Wainwrights wet food.  However you may wish to supply your own food, which we are happy with.  The choice is yours.  Please advise us if there is anything your dog should not have i.e. may have sensitive stomach.

Medication
Please bring any medication that your dog may be on, which we will administer as required.

Illness or Accident
Whilst every care will be given to look after your dog(s), they are boarded at your own risk.  You will be asked to sign a declaration to authorise us to contact a veterinary surgeon on your behalf should we feel it is necessary.  If you have Pet Insurance please advise us of your provider and the policy number.  Please be aware that you will be liable to any veterinary care charges if applicable.  Rest assured we will always do our very best for your dog(s).

Exercise
We will lead walk your dog(s) in the field, but we also have secure paddocks where he/she can have a run under supervision, please advise if this is acceptable.

ID Tag
Whilst your dog is staying with us we will put one of our ID tags on for additional security.

Opening Hours
Drop off/pick up should be between the hours of 9.30am – 4.30pm, seven days a week.   Due to the running of the Rescue Centre we need to operate within these hours.  Outside of these hours will only be considered in an emergency.

Donation
Bristol DAWG do not have a Boarding Licence, however, because of the way our Adoption Contracts are worded – Clause (6) of your contract i.e. “The dog remains under the ownership of Bristol DAWG and we will request the return of him/her if at any time it becomes evident that he/she is not being correctly cared for”, we are advised by Sedgemoor District Council that we are permitted to board up to five dogs which have been re-homed by ourselves.
We cannot charge a fixed fee for boarding this has to be done on a “donation” basis, but would hope that your donation would reflect local boarding kennels.

Payment of Donation
Donation can be by cash, card or via our Justgiving Page.

If you do not pay on collection of your dog, for ease of admin, please always make payment within 24 hours.

Data Protection
We retain essential client data for our purposes only and do not share any data with external organisations. You can request at any time by e-mail or telephone that we remove personal data from our records.

To check boarding availability please e-mail [email protected] marking it for the attention of Lynette Butler

Please contact by e-mail in the first instance but Lynette’s mobile number is 07793 322069 (please leave a message).

Should you need to cancel your boarding, a donation would be greatly appreciated, as we rely on some of this revenue to help run the rescue and enable us to help more dogs.
