Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue

3 February 2020

Beautiful Blue, the boy lurcher puppy, arrived at the kennels today courtesy of Celia, our local dog warden. His details will be added to the website when he has been assessed, but he is going to make someone a wonderful companion.

What a lovely afternoon Gerry had today, she went to complete the paperwork for the fabulous Thunder, now renamed "Big Ben". Ben has gone to live in Bath with Victoria, Jack and his galgo, brother Ice (also a Bristol DAWG dog).

Ben is only just over a year old and has been on home trial to make sure that the dogs got along, I think it is fair to say he is enjoying home life and the sofa!!

Thank you so much for giving both these DAWG dogs a wonderful home, they are extremely lucky boys.

Thanks also to Eila Moloney for rescuing Thunder in Ireland.

Gerry popped round today to see Sue, Mark and the very handsome Ernie, who has now become Bertie.

This sweet little boy did not have the best start in life, and has been with us a little while, but he certainly seems to have taken to home life with his new mum and dad and his new friend Clyde, who is also a greyhound.

Thank you Sue and Mark for giving this boy a chance and thanks also to Eila Moloney for rescuing him.

Have a happy life Bertie you deserve it.

Sweet little pup Blue has found his forever home in Yate with Terri and Terry. They have had a lurcher before which they lost just over a year ago, but seeing Blue on our website, they just couldn't resist.

Gerry went to complete the paperwork this afternoon and it was like he had always been there.

Thank you both for giving this little chap the home he so deserves.

19 February 2020

We were joined in the early hours of this morning by the four beauties above: Emer, Buick, Hawk and Magic, who will all be available for rehoming once they have been assessed.

As ever, our thanks go to all at Tonew for continuing to take delivery of our dogs and keeping them safe until we can transport them to the rescue centre,

19 February 2020

Great news our sweet little Bella the lurcher has gone to her forever home in Yeovil with Shelagh and Roy, and has settled very quickly.

We must thank once again our wonderful foster mum, Ann, who has looked after Bella over the last few months whilst we got her vaccinated and spayed.

Have a happy life lovely girl you so deserve it.

What a greyt Bingo Evening, with so many people attending' looks like Gerry will definitely be having that tattoo, as once Megan Simpkins-Jenkins organises something it is always a success and raises lots of money!!!

Thank you Megan for organising and thanks to all the people who very kindly made food, and most importantly thank you to so many people for coming along.

Well done Nick Foulger for collecting all the loose change when people left.

The evening made a fabulous £931!! - this is the most we have ever made from a Bingo Evening or Quiz.

24 February 2020

Ellie has found her forever sofa with Jane Crow and her new best friend Charlie the greyhound. Apparently Charlie doesn't normally share the sofa, but Ellie has won him over and he thinks she is rather nice.

Thank you Jane for giving Ellie a wonderful new home, and  thank you also to Nick and Sharon Foulger for yet another successful foster - you guys are amazing.

27 February 2020

Some greyt news to start the day - Banter has gone to his forever home in Paulton to live with Caroline Mcnally and her other Eila Moloney dog, Lily. Caroline adopted Lily back in 2017 and decided it was time for a friend as Lily can be a shy girl who might benefit from some company.

Banter (now renamed Bert) has been on home trial for the last two weeks and Lily has taken a shine to him, allowing him to share her bed and play bowing at him!!

Thank you Caroline for giving this lovely boy a wonderful new home and also thanks to Eila Moloney for rescuing him.

Lovely end to the week - beautiful, gentle Ben has found his forever home.
Now called Louie, he has gone to live with Jayne in Bridgwater. He is such a special boy, so calm in fact I’m sure he’ll walk into the house and go straight for the sofa!!
Be happy lovely boy, you will be missed at the kennels.

DAWG members, how would you like to win the Bristol DAWG lottery?
To help with the running costs of the new Rescue Centre, it has been decided to consider running a Bristol DAWG Lottery.
To make this worthwhile we need a minimum of 100 members to take part. DAWG's Facebook page has nearly 2,500 members so we would like to think that at least 100 members want to help us going forward.
The cost would be £10 per month payable by standing order. There would be a draw every month and based on 100 members the winner would receive £300, the runner up £100. There will also be a one off annual Christmas draw where the winner would receive £1,000 and the runner up £200. The more members that take part, the bigger the prizes would be.
Please  PM Gerry on Facebook  saying if you would be interested and how many tickets you would want each month – entry is £10 per month per ticket.
If the required minimum number of 100 is reached we will then be in touch to arrange everything.
We need your help towards running costs of the Rescue Centre – please consider helping and also have the chance to “Win The Lottery”.
