Thank you to Tom and Suuz Young for their donation via Just Giving - just the way to start off the New Year!

Our first dog to be rehomed this year is Lassie (now called Holly). Holly has gone to live in Pewsey with Melanie and her lovely greyhound Blue. As you can see from the picture above, things are going really well - it didn't take Holly (on the left) long to find the sofa!!
Thank you Melanie and Blue for giving Holly a wonderful forever home.

Beauty was soon next to find her forever home in Bath, where she quickly stole the hearts of her new family. Now renamed Dixie, you can see above just how well she has settled in

We would like to welcome Lesley and Frank to the "failed fosterers club". It is a very special club which so many of you have joined!!!!
Lesley and Frank very kindly fostered Eugene just before Christmas as there had been very little interest in him as he is a very big black boy. Three weeks have passed and we got the phone call "Frank just can't part with him"!!!, so it looks like Eugene has found himself a fabulous new home. Lesley and Frank have two other greyhounds Fran and Cooper (also a Bristol DAWG dog).
Lesley and Frank very kindly do lots of fundraising for Bristol DAWG so Eugene will be seen out and about promoting the breed and the black dogs, which are not as popular and are always harder to rehome.
Huge thanks for giving this lovely boy a second chance in life.

What a Greyt day!! I think Bristol DAWG can safely say their fifth “Doggie Day” was a huge success. This event just gets more and more popular every year, with just over 200 hundred dogs attending.
We were amazed at how many former Bristol DAWG dogs brought their owners along to see us!! – it’s so rewarding to see so many of our dogs, which are now in loving, forever homes, as many have not had the best start in life. So to all Bristol DAWG dogs, it was wonderful to see you and it makes all our hard work so worthwhile.
We would like to say a big “THANK YOU” to Maria Lowe of Viking Vets who did a brilliant job judging the dog show, with so many dogs to choose from it must have been VERY difficult. Well done Maria, and thank you for all your help, support and hard work.
Thanks to Colin who helped Maria by stewarding the dog show, with so many dogs in the ring he had his work cut out – in one class there were 53 dogs!! Leading up to the show he has also loaded/unloaded the vans, distributed leaflets, helped me with admin and basically did everything I asked and more – no wonder he says he is “my long suffering husband”!!
Well done to Sue and Dave (hindered by myself!!) for the speed in which they dealt with the dog show registration, especially as time was very limited – they did a brilliant job.
Malcolm Webb and his team (Agility 4 Dogs) did a fantastic agility display, which was very much enjoyed by all watching, and you could see all their dogs were really having fun and enjoying themselves. Malcolm and his team then opened the agility ring to any dogs that would “like to have a go” and it was so funny seeing both dogs and owners who had never done any agility trying for the first time. Thank you Malcolm we are very grateful to you and your team for making our day such a success – your donation was also very gratefully received.
Fastest Sprint (with added distractions!!) – Debbie, Lee, Linda and Julie very kindly ran this between them during the day and turned out to be great fun with lots of laughter coming from the far side of the arena, the treats half way into the sprint seemed to stop quite a lot of dogs in their tracks.
Refreshments – Sarah, Des, Jim, Gill & Carol worked really hard and although busy most of the time they seemed to keep the queue down so people didn’t have to wait long. You did a brilliant job, thank you. A big “THANK YOU” to Carol Phillips for all the refreshments provided, you are extremely kind. Another huge ‘THANK YOU” to Tom Young, who kindly provided all the cold drinks. Thank you Alison Howard for the 100 amazing cup cakes you made. Denise Smart, Gill Hickman and Des Kendall also made some lovely cakes. Thanks to all the trustees who made rolls.
Jane’s DAWG Stall (helped by Linda) - this stall did really well selling lovely collars, coats, snoods, toys, leads, knitted greyhounds – lots of items were handmade by Jane, well done Jane brilliant job.
Thanks to Jan Lasenby who also very kindly made various items to sell for Bristol DAWG – I understand she also took a few orders for items to be made to measure. Thank you for supporting us Jan.
Platinum Pet Care – Kim and Megan again ran their wonderful stall. Thank you for your greyt support, not only at this show but also throughout 2015. Kim and Megan also very kindly supplied most of the bottles for the “Bottle Tombola” and also donated all the prizes for the dog show – thanks girls.
In The Dog House Grooming (Avalon) – Thank you you did a wonderful job with the nail clipping, again with donations taken coming to Bristol DAWG, you are very kind – you must have clipped lots of nails this year or people were very generous!!
Hoop-a-Hound/Teddy Tombola – Geraldine and Shirley very kindly ran this throughout the day and it was lovely to see so many winners. Geraldine is amazing, as for a long time she has supported us by knitting these beautiful little greyhounds.
Bottle Tombola – Thanks to Eve, Adrienne and Sharon who ran this tombola – there were lots of lucky winners.
Tom and Suuz – Thanks for turning up early to help with set up and for helping out where needed throughout the day. Tom also organised the car park – well done Tom as it is not an easy job!!
Well done Hilary and Suuz who braved the cold doorway to take the entrance money.
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported our event and helped us to raise an amazing £2,756.
Well done to everyone who helped to set and who stayed with us to the end to pack up – too numerous to mention, you know who you are.
Dog Show - Best In Show was Aaron the whippet, and Reserve Best In Show was Skittle the lurcher.
Really hope I haven't missed anyone, but a huge thank you to every single volunteer who helped during the day.
