Bristol DAWG

Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue

June 2019

1 June 2019

June has got off to an amazing start with Allen finding his forever home with Hazel and his new greyhound girlfriend, Lindy (also a Bristol DAWG dog).

These dogs have only been together two weeks, but already are getting on so well.

Thank you Hazel for giving this handsome boy a second chance in life.

We must also say thank you to Denise Smart, who is an amazing foster mum, and looked after him so well whilst he was waiting for his forever sofa.

Another very happy hound, Eila Moloney.

Surprise, surprise!!! "super foster mum" Denise Smart has just called to say that the family want to adopt the lovely Maggie (now renamed Winnie). Denise has fostered so many dogs over the years, but there are always going to be "special ones".

This sweet girl has taken to home life so well and the whole family have fallen in love with her.

Thank you for everything you do for Bristol DAWG Denise, but most importantly thank you for giving Winnie a wonderful home.

Lovely afternoon at the Mangotsfield dog show. The sun shone on us and we saw lots of DAWG dogs. Lurcher Meg was there with her dad who won the raffle! Also great to see Smoke the Bloke, Pearl the Girl, Sheena, Meg and Daisy winning rosettes. Here are some of the winners. Best in show was Suki the Saluki and Herbie the lovely pup was reserve. Many thanks to Michelle Jacklin who had a really hard job of judging as there were so many beautiful and well deserving dogs. Hope to see lots of pointy noses at the Greyhound walk tomorrow at Blaise Castle.

Just spent a lovely hour in Clevedon with Nick, Cathy and Alys who have adopted Skye following a successful home trial. I’m sure you’ve seen Skye racing around with Wally the Whippet in Cathy’s videos but she also has an admirer next door, Angus the Setter, who is having a play date with her soon!! Thank you for giving her a wonderful home.
Thanks also to super fosterers Sharon and Nick Foulger who prepared her for her forever sofa. Have a smashing life Skye, you so deserve it.

26 June 2019

We would like to welcome Penny Owen to the failed fosterers' club!!! - yes, lots of us have been there!!

It has been a long road for Dora as she has been with us almost ten months. She arrived with a really bad ear infection and a cauliflower ear, which seemed to take forever to clear up and had a couple of operations.

This girl really did have a raw deal, she was originally bred in Ireland and sent to this country to race, she had just over sixty races, all in Sheffield, and then for some strange reason she was sent back to Ireland, where she never raced again!! Luckily she was rescued by our very good friend Eila Moloney and sent back to the UK for rehoming.

Dora has been in foster with Penny for quite a while, there is always going to be "a special one" and Dora is that one for Penny. Thank you for giving Dora her forever home.

30 June 2019

Thank you to Julie and Adrian Sims for a wonderful afternoon. The Cream Tea was absolutely brilliant, the weather was perfect, the company was great and seeing lots of our dogs which have been re-homed was a sheer joy.

This event just gets busier every year with 117 people coming along this time, which is a record amount.

Superb amount of money £1,057.13, which will help us to save more dogs.

We cannot thank you both enough as we know the hard work that goes into organising an event like this. We must also thank family and friends who helped Julie and Adrian during the afternoon.
