Bristol DAWG

Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue

November

1 November 2021

We are now in a position to offer boarding to dogs that have been previous residents of Bristol DAWG. Spaces will be limited, as we only want to keep this on a small scale, but we are constantly asked for recommendations when people are looking to go on holiday or that odd weekend away.
To leave your dog with us we would need to see proof that your dog is fully vaccinated and has had the kennel cough vaccine – sadly we are not able to accept any dogs without up to date vaccinations.

2022 BRISTOL DAWG CALENDARS
This year we have a Bristol DAWG calendar thanks to Stacey Nevill and Megan and Kim Simpkins-Jenkins.
Stacey's photography is just brilliant and Megan and Kim have very kindly paid for the calendars to be printed, so Bristol DAWG will receive 100% of the proceeds.
These will be available for the Christmas Market at the Rescue Centre in November.
Thank you ladies you are such wonderful supporters.

1 November 2021

We are looking to hold a Christmas market at the rescue centre on 21 November, weather permitting.
Do you have any Christmassy stuff that you would be happy to donate? Replacing your tree this year? Treating yourself to new baubles?
Would you bake some Christmas cakes and cookies for us?
Must be in good condition and working please
Please let Diane know.

Avon Riding Centre

For obvious reasons our Annual Doggie Day didn't happen in 2021, but the above date has been booked.
As times have been a little hard over the last sixteen months it would be great if we could get more of our volunteers involved to help, so if anyone has any bright ideas for organising and running a stall on the day this would be very welcome.
There will be space for outside stalls but we would like to try and fill with as many DAWG stalls as possible.
There is always a Dog Show, Stalls, Fastest Sprint, Nail Clipping, lots of Doggie items for sale, but if anyone could organise a Bottle Tombola, Raffle, Sausage Bobbing, Teddy Tombola - basically any ideas very gratefully received where we can raise money. As the trustees will be tied up with organisation of the whole event, any volunteers will have to be solely responsible for what they have organised.
There will be refreshments - any baking of cakes would be very gratefully received.
Four months away so please put your thinking caps on if you would like to help.
Please contact us if you feel you may be able to organise and run a stall.

What a lovely day! Fantastic turn out for the Christmas Market at the rescue centre. So many pointy and non-pointy noses to cuddle and fab to see their mums and dads too. Must say thank you to everyone who made cakes, to those kind people who gave us Christmassy things to sell, to Deb for the lovely coasters and hooks, to Linda for her beautiful jewellery and everyone who came to help us raise an utterly amazing £1700. We are always so grateful to our wonderful supporters. Thank you

Fab adoption news to start the week. Donnie has found his forever sofa. Now called Ronnie, he’s gone to live with Paul and Hannah and is doing really well (apart from destroying everything fluffy in the house in the first hour)! He’s learning quickly and is brilliant out on walks, ignoring the cat next door and other small dogs.

24 November 2021

Gerry went to complete the adoption paperwork this evening for the lovely Gino who has gone to live with the Davies family in Yate.
In just a couple of days this boy has settled so well, having already taken over the sofa and roaching quite happily.
Thank you to Roz and Paul for giving this big lad his forever home. Thanks also to our good friend Eila Moloney for rescuing him in Ireland.

25 November 2021

Great day out fund raising at Clifton Down Shopping Centre today where the greyhounds replaced the reindeers for the day. Well done Sam, Jack, Parker & Goofus.

27 November 2021

Adoption news - our lovely Fifi has left the building! She’s winging her way to her forever sofa in Bristol with her new dad. She’s now called Nelly and this bouncy bundle of fun really deserves her second chance. It will be very quiet here without her!

27 November 2021

Gerry completed adoption paperwork this afternoon for the lovely Evita (now renamed Evie). When she arrived in Coalpit Heath to see Val and Ivor she was greeted by Val saying "you can't have her back, it's like she has always been here, we love her".
As you can see from the picture Evie is very settled - amazing this sweet girl has lived in a kennel environment for seven and a half years whilst having puppies, twenty four hours in a home and think we can safely say she likes it!!!
Have a greyt life Evie you so deserve it.
Thanks to Eila Moloney for rescuing this lovely girl.
