Bristol DAWG

Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue

September

1 October 2020

We are now in a position to offer boarding to dogs that have been previous residents of Bristol DAWG. Spaces will be limited, as we only want to keep this on a small scale, but we are constantly asked for recommendations when people are looking to go on holiday or that odd weekend away.
To leave your dog with us we would need to see proof that your dog is fully vaccinated and has had the kennel cough vaccine – sadly we are not able to accept any dogs without up to date vaccinations.

Congratulations to the winner of this month's lottery, Michelle Cleary and the runner up, Jane Worth.

7 October 2020

Hilary Ann Dixon is doing an amazing job with the DAWG On-line shop - she has raised another £156 this week.

Thank you Hilary we know this can be time consuming, but you are doing a brilliant job.

8 October 2020

Greyt news to start the day, Dessie (was Loui) has gone to his forever home in Stoke Gifford with the Tatum family.
Gerry popped round to do the paperwork this morning and Dessie has been in his home since yesterday, but already seems quite chilled out.
Thank you for giving this sweet boy a second chance in life and special thanks to Eila Moloney for rescuing him in Ireland.

10 October 2020

Suzy has found her forever home with Sophia, she went to her new home yesterday and Gerry completed the paperwork this morning. She has settled really well, great first night, slept right through and a clean girl. Looked very chilled when I arrived this morning. Thank you Sophia for giving this sweet young girl another chance in life and thank you to Eila Moloney for rescuing her in Ireland and sending her to Bristol DAWG.

Lucky Luna has found her forever home in Kingswood with Liz, Jason and their two daughters. This little girl is one of the loveliest lurchers I have ever met, she has the most amazing sweet nature and adores children. Luna came into rescue due to the ill health of her owner, at almost two years old she would have been terrified of kennels, as she had lived on a farm where she had quite a lot of freedom.
Luna was with us a while as she needed to be spayed, so went straight into foster with Ann Hyam and, although Luna obviously missed her family,  she quickly settled. Thank you Ann for yet another successful foster.

16 October 2020

As you may know, we started a special fundraising appeal for AstroTurf earlier this year. This was because the three compounds outside the kennel blocks at the rescue centre flooded really badly last winter. This meant that the dogs’ feet and their bedding was always damp and muddy - not ideal!
But thanks to an extremely generous donation, we have been able to have the work done and now have three lovely clean, new compounds. This winter will be very different indeed. The benefactor wishes to remain anonymous but thank you from us and the kennel dogs, it will make a such a difference. I’m sure you’ll agree just how  much bigger and better it looks now. Just brilliant!

Lovely Fire has gone to her forever home. Now called Nala, she has gone to live with her new family in North Somerset. This pretty girl is only fourteen months old and is another pointy nose saved by our good friend Eila Moloney. Be happy special girl.

19 October 2020

Gerry spent a lovely hour yesterday afternoon completing the adoption for Nidge (now renamed Zulu).
Zulu has gone to live in Yate with Norman and Bridget and I think he is going to be thoroughly spoilt.
Thank you both for giving this lovely boy his forever home, and thanks to Eila Moloney in Ireland for rescuing him.
Sorry the only photo we currently have is the one before he left Ireland, but take it from us he is very handsome.

22 October 2020

We have recently been joined by three new dogs. Details will be released when they have been assessed.

24 October 2020

Another successful re-homing. Lou-Lou has found her forever home in West Sussex with Ros. We would not normally re-home this far outside of the Bristol/Somerset area but Ros's daughter, who lives in Bristol, has adopted Lou-Lou's sister, Suzy, so it will be lovely that they still get to see each other.
Thank you Ros for giving Lou-Lou a new home and thanks to Eila Moloney for saving these two beautiful girls.

25 October 2020

Jet (now renamed Eddie) has found his forever home in Fishponds with Caron O'Toole. What a happy boy he is going to be.
Think it is fair to say that he has had a pretty hard life, when he arrived at Bristol DAWG he was full of fleas, thin and in poor condition. He was a lucky boy to be rescued from a Pets For Sale Site!! One month on, fully vaccinated, neutered, good food, what a difference.
Gerry popped over this morning to complete the paperwork and he already looks so relaxed. Good first night, all quiet, no accidents, hasn't stolen anything, in fact he has been perfect.
Thank you Caron for giving this lovely boy the home he so deserves.
