Bristol DAWG

Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue

October

1 October 2021

We are now in a position to offer boarding to dogs that have been previous residents of Bristol DAWG. Spaces will be limited, as we only want to keep this on a small scale, but we are constantly asked for recommendations when people are looking to go on holiday or that odd weekend away.
To leave your dog with us we would need to see proof that your dog is fully vaccinated and has had the kennel cough vaccine – sadly we are not able to accept any dogs without up to date vaccinations.

2022 BRISTOL DAWG CALENDARS
This year we will have a Bristol DAWG calendar thanks to Stacey Nevill and Megan and Kim Simpkins-Jenkins.
Gerry has seen the proof for these and is absolutely delighted, Stacey's photography is just brilliant and Megan and Kim have very kindly paid for the calendars to be printed, so Bristol DAWG will receive 100% of the proceeds.
These should be available for the Christmas Market at the Rescue Centre in November.
Thank you ladies you are such wonderful supporters.

Weather permitting we will be having a get together on Sunday, 3 October. Not such a big event as the Open Day in August, more like a coffee morning - come and have a cuppa, a slice of cake and a chat. We will be selling doggy goodies such as warm walking out coats and fleeces. 11am - 3pm
Everyone welcome, bring a picnic and a chair and hope for good weather!

Avon Riding Centre

For obvious reasons our Annual Doggie Day didn't happen in 2021, but the above date has been booked.
As times have been a little hard over the last sixteen months it would be great if we could get more of our volunteers involved to help, so if anyone has any bright ideas for organising and running a stall on the day this would be very welcome.
There will be space for outside stalls but we would like to try and fill with as many DAWG stalls as possible.
There is always a Dog Show, Stalls, Fastest Sprint, Nail Clipping, lots of Doggie items for sale, but if anyone could organise a Bottle Tombola, Raffle, Sausage Bobbing, Teddy Tombola - basically any ideas very gratefully received where we can raise money. As the trustees will be tied up with organisation of the whole event, any volunteers will have to be solely responsible for what they have organised.
There will be refreshments - any baking of cakes would be very gratefully received.
Four months away so please put your thinking caps on if you would like to help.
Please contact us if you feel you may be able to organise and run a stall.

If you have kindly offered us something for the upcoming Christmas auction please could you get in touch so either Gerry or Megan can collect?
We are aiming to start the auction in the next week
It will be over in the Auction group.

1 October 2021

We are looking to hold a Christmas market at the rescue centre on 21 November, weather permitting.
Do you have any Christmassy stuff that you would be happy to donate? Replacing your tree this year? Treating yourself to new baubles?
Would you bake some Christmas cakes and cookies for us?
Must be in good condition and working please
Please let Diane know.

Big thank you to everyone who came to the coffee morning today. Thanks also for baking such lovely cakes and for all the other goodies that you brought with you. We raised a smashing £380, not bad for a rainy Sunday!

What greyt news to start the week! We moved little Sid into a foster home three weeks ago as he was shy and really didn't want to meet any visitors at the Rescue Centre.
Lesley and Frank have had multiple pointy noses over the years so we knew they would make brilliant foster parents - we also knew they were "failed fosterers" as that is how they came by Eugene!
After three weeks he has come a long way, they are totally smitten and he is going absolutely nowhere!
Thank you Lesley and Frank for giving this lovely boy time, patience and a wonderful new home. Thanks also to Eila Moloney for rescuing him in Ireland.

This is Bestie pictured with his new owners shortly before leaving with them to start a new life in Bristol. We wish him luck.

Goldie also left us for a new life in Bristol today and will in future be known as Sadie.

18 October 2021

More lovely adoption news this morning. Big handsome Jim is off to his new home. Now called Roscoe, he is on his way to Bristol with his new mum and dad. Be happy lovely boy.

Absolutely delighted to tell you that our perfect gent Mickey has gone to his new home today. He came to us several weeks ago looking very sad and in need of lots of tlc. He has endured several trips to the vet, a number of invasive procedures and castration but is now much better and can enjoy life. He isn’t far away so hopefully we will still see him from time to time. Be happy special boy, we will miss you.

Little Florrie has found her forever home in Clifton with the Cormack family.
Three days in her new home and I think it is fair to say she has settled.
Thank you for giving Florrie a lovely new home.
