Dawgust Total - £11,003.00

8 September 2019
Greyt night at the bingo tonight and, although it was less well supported than it has been in the past, in excess of £500 was raised for our Dawgust appeal which Colin matched, bringing the total to well over £1,000. I'm sure someone will be along with the exact figures soon and, in the meantime, I should like to thank Colin, on behalf of Bristol DAWG, for that incredibly kind and generous gesture. The evening was further enhanced by a visit, on her birthday, from our longtime supporter Suus Knoops all the way from the Netherlands - the cake was lovely 😉 Thank you to everyone involved in organising the evening and everyone who came along to support it.

In its second year, Woody's Memorial Walk was well supported again and raised £300 for Dawgust, which was added to the proceeds of a raffle held by the walk organiser, Jayne Hemmingsley bringing the total up to almost £600.
The walk turned into a social occasion as the participants tucked into cake, tea, coffee and soft drinks afterwards.
Our thanks go to Jayne for organising the walk and Jess and her sister for serving the refreshments.

Hambrook Sports & Social Club, Moorend Road, Hambrook
8pm Monday, 9th September
The evening will include a Ploughmans supper
£5 per person, plus we would ask everyone to bring a small raffle item.
There is obviously a bar!!

Gerry has done the official counting of the money for the Skittles Evening and £261 was raised for the DAWGUST Appeal.
Really enjoyable evening, lots of banter and laughter, absolutely brilliant. Think we may well do this again, as people seemed to enjoy themselves.
Thank you Julie and Adrian Sims for sorting the food.

Well, here we are over a third of the way through September and Dawgust has just come to an end with a super Quiz Evening organised by Ian Jones at the Angel, Long Ashton. It was very well supported, with loads of DAWG people attending, making it a greyt way to end our special fund raising initiative. £404 was raised to help the hounds and everyone at DAWG would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation and sponsorship of this event.

OK everyone you are all probably fed up with seeing the word "DAWGUST" now, as August now seems to run into September, but organised events have now come to an end.
Once again this year we have had amazing support to try and help our very good friend Eila Moloney in Ireland and the money which has been raised will make such a huge difference to the amount of dogs she can help. So to every single one of you who donated, attended or organised an event, give yourself a big pat on the back as you have made a difference to a dog needing help.
There is still some money to come in, but we are nearly there and hope to have a final figure towards the end of the week/early next week.
At Bristol DAWG we are so lucky to have such a wonderful group of people supporting the work we do.

Dawgust Accouncement
Firstly thank you to every single person who has organised an event, attended an event or made a donation. Your money will help Eila Moloney save dogs less fortunate than your best friend.
Dawgust 2019 has raised £10,966.10. Team DAWG - you are all absolutely fantastic.

Another happy hound finds his forever sofa today!!
Gerry spent a lovely hour this afternoon with Moe, Jennie Fortune and her lovely boy, Benton.
Moe originally came from our good friend Eila Moloney in early 2015, but sadly came back into the care of the charity a few weeks ago. At nine years old now Moe is amazing and looks younger than his years. He and Benton are getting on really well and it was lovely to see him looking so happy. He was sunbathing in the garden while Gerry was there and by the time she left he was roaching on the sofa!!
Thank you Jennie for giving Moe a lovely home.
We must also thank Karen Austin and her family for fostering Moe, not once, but twice! Karen fostered Moe when he arrived from Ireland back in 2015 and then again while he was waiting for Jennie.

Delighted to tell you that beautiful Gypsy has found her forever home with Eric and Kim in WsM. Now called Alainn (Gaelic for beautiful and pronounced all-in) she gave Diane a lovely happy and bouncy welcome this morning. She has settled well and is in lovely shiny condition. Thank you for giving this lovely young girl a happy home and for the generous donation. She's pictured here with Beau, her fur sister!

Another adoption today! Beautiful Rhea has gone to her forever home with the Cranston family in Hanham. Now called Gertie, this pretty girl is three years old and has never raced - lucky girl. She came over from Ireland with her brother Robby who is still looking for his forever sofa. Thank you for giving this beauty a lovely home and to Eila Moloney for saving her.

Happy days - today is Maggie’s turn to be adopted. She has found her forever home with Sophie and Simon in Bristol. This beautiful big girl deserves a lovely comfy bed as she spent four years in racing kennels for just one race! She did however have one pup - the lovely Gypsy who was adopted last week! Diane will really miss cuddles at the kennels with Maggie but she will be much loved by her new mum and dad. Be happy special girl.

Gerry spent a lovely hour this morning finalising the paperwork for Charlie, who is now living in the Southville area of Bristol with Victoria, Mark and his new best friends, Tom and Mildred, both former Bristol DAWGs. This young boy is just so sweet, a real time waster as you could watch him for hours, he is so entertaining and funny.
Charlie has definitely landed on all four paws and looked so happy and content.
Thank you Victoria Webster and Mark for welcoming him into your home. We look forward to lots of photos as he grows and also to the results of the DNA test!!
Our heartfelt thanks once again to Sharon and Nick Foulger for another successful foster. At least Munch the cat will be getting some peace again now!!
